To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han review

Jenny Han's inspiration to write this book was actually based on her own life as a teenager, She too had a habit of writing love letters to her crushes. The novel is also followed by a sequel called 'P.S I Still Love You' which I am yet to read.

Sixteen year old Lara Jean has spent her days writing love letters to her crushes. These love letters are kept in a hatbox her mum gave her. She can say what ever she wants in these letters as they are never to be seen by any other eyes but her own, until one day they're sent out.

When I seen that nearly every book blogger had read this book and loved it, I decided pick it up and give it a read. I might as well get straight to the point and tell you I don't know why there was such a hype over this book as I didn't like it very much. At times Lara Jean annoyed me by the way she would phrase her words and handled situations immaturely. I also didn't like how throughout the book almost every character spoke 'with their eyes'. It actually took me 6 weeks to read this book as I found it very uninteresting most of the time and to be dragging on. I spent the whole book waiting for Lara Jean and Peter to start going out for real but once they did it only lasted one night.
I really did not Lara Jeans older sister Margot. I felt she was very self-centered and harsh towards Lara Jean and Josh. At times she seemed very attention seeking and thought she was better than everyone else.
What I did like about this book was the relationship between Lara jean and Josh and also Lara Jean and Chris. I found some of the situations in the book very relatable for example when Lara Jean was going to Peters house for dinner she was very nervous and went to the extremes of learning how to eat spaghetti properly. I also really ship Josh and Lara Jean, I really think they should be together.

Although the majority of this review is very negative I am looking forward to reading the sequel to see what happens between Lara Jean and Peter. I give this book 3/5 stars.
